Summer City Slicker
Summer afternoons spent roaming The city
Words by Billy George
Sometimes, it's impossible to wear more than your skin during Summer, but you can't do that in public - it's indecent exposure. Melbourne is quite well known for its cold weather. During the hotter months in the southern hemisphere, it can hot. Really hot. While I enjoy a day out at the beach, I cannot stand the Summer sun. It's blistering, all the time. All the damn time.
When you think Summer, you also tend to think about wearing shorts. It's a great way to stay cool. I get it but it doesn't mean I have to like it. You wont really ever find me wearing a pair unless I'm sitting by the pool or on the sand at the beach - which doesn't happen very often at that. I also don't wear flip flops. It's quite unAustralian of me!
So, what's left? A light cotton tee and distressed denim. And of course, white sneakers! It's stupid to wear raw denim - don't do that. It's way too hot for raw denim. Think your cotton blend jeans you can get off the rack for a decent price that is stretchy and breathable. Keep it simple.
