Welcome to Winter
Dear Melbourne, Please Let Me Enjoy Autumn a Little Longer!
Words by Billy George
Don't get me wrong, I much prefer the cold over the drenching Summer heat that Melbourne can put on. But when Winter hits earlier than expected (though it's officially Winter in a couple of days) it seems like Autumn didn't last long. Not long at all! You know what this means? Layering up in Autumn colours, just to make me feel a little better for the escaping fall season.
The colours of fall are just amazing. I love the change from the dry greens of Summer that dust off into a mix of yellows, ambers, oranges and reds through out the cycle of months in the season. It's truly magical. Reflecting that into an outfit makes the months that little bit better. How do you do it?
Well, fall to me is all about rich earthy tones on a green landscape. You don't have to wear a mix of greens, oranges and red; that's just wrong! I've always been a fan of browns, camels and tans in an outfit, especially when worn together and paired with neutrals. The black and navy together mute down the rest of the outfit, reducing the contrast and adding a extra bit of depth to the overall ensemble. The colours and texture of the scarf blends really well with the plain camel overcoat - what more could you want?
Well let me tell you what! A pair of rich brown double monk straps, brown leather-strapped watch and a hat to match!
