When it comes to Art, Melbourne is seriously coming along as a prominent figure, or host, for some amazing exhibitions for contemporary art. A year ago, the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) hosted Andy Warhol and Ai Wei Wei, which was absolutely amazing. Not long after David Hockney's exhibition came along.
Now? NGV's Triennial that surveys the world of art and design across cultures, scales, geographies and perspectives by bring work from over 100 artists and 32 countries. Best of all? It's free! How often can you say you get the chance to go along to a major art show without paying a cent!
Spanning across the four levels at the NGV, it's really a celebration of contemporary art and design practices. From cutting edge tech and animation to performance and film. It's a rich and diverse exhibition filled with thought provoking pieces. It's an opportunity to look at the worlds past, present and future of art, through the eyes of creative minds.
With the fact that it is free of charge, it's quite hard to make your way around some of the pieces as it's filled with everyone young and small to big and old. It's amazing to think so many are getting involved with the art world from little old Melbourne.
Open till the 15th of April 2018, I definitely need to get there another weekend that's coming up to really do it justice again. I just loved it that much. Honestly. You can't miss out! For those around the world that haven't had a chance to get to an exhibit like this, I've collated some of my favourite shots taken on my iPhone on the day, so excuse the quality but it gives you a general idea of the level of detail that the NGV have gone to display the artwork.
When it comes to outfits though, having a light and comfortable get-up for days spent traversing is essential. It was a warm day, so breezy, non-denim, options were essential. With a lot of walking expected around the place, a pair of sneakers and a bag was necessary to help me keep weight off my person and get around with ease. The houndstooth cotton pants just added to the overall lux theme to the outfit that is bought back to a streetwear basis when paired with a loose fitting tee.
What I Wore:
AS Colour tee
GStar X25 houndstooth pants
Christian Kimber sneakers
Double U Frenk necklaces
Bailey Nelson specs
