The vista’s of the old Westerns in Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall runway
Words by Billy George
It’s a “collection that today incorporated a whole gulch of Western motifs,” as described by Stefano Gabbana before the show. This was a collection consistent with the current iterations of the Dolce & Gabbana man.
The large and exaggerated coats to the slimming suits with western prints, this collection is an ode to D&G. But after the first few outfits of poncho wearing men, the collection takes a turn away from the western motif into heavily clad outfits fit for a smart traveller to the deep winters out on the Swiss alps.
That’s not a bad thing. I really enjoyed the composure of the outfits, working in sync with each piece that is layered into an entire outfit and collection. The slimming pants and shirts fit well against the jackets and coats layered on top. A lighter turn takes place and more ready-to-wear outfits are seen from suits to more casual stylings.
